AOT COVID-19 Alert: Passengers check requisites on destination provinces before taking domestic flights
The Airports of Thailand Plc (AOT) forewarns domestic passengers to verify requisites and restrictions related to COVID-19 pandemic issued by authorities of provinces of their destinations before travelling.
Passengers are required to check provinces' latest announcements and orders every time prior to booking domestic flights as the requirements to tame the spread of the coronavirus may vary.
Currently, 5 AOT-operated airports located in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Hat Yai are serving some of domestic scheduled flights operated by four airlines namely Nok Air, Thai AirAsia, Thai Lion Air and Thai Vietjet. To prevent the spread of the virus infection, all inbound and outbound passengers must pass a check point for body temperature scan at AOT airports and always wear a face mask while in the airport area. If the screening showed that the passenger has a body temperature higher than 37.3 degrees celsius, or not wearing a face mask, airport officials have the right to refuse entry to the airport area. In addition, people are asked to cooperate strictly with the social distancing protocol.
For instance, passengers arriving at Chiang Mai International Airport must complete the tracking information in the Chor Mor 1 form and receiving a guide on the surveillance and quarantine for 14 days. Foreign passengers must be detained at accommodation or hotels designated by the provincial authorities for 14 days by their own expense.
Inbound passengers at Mae Fah Luang-Chiang Rai International Airport are required to fill out documents via the QR code of the province's administration and public health. The information is used as a basis in establishing screening measures for everybody entering Chiang Rai province. If the passenger was domiciled and conducted daily life in Bangkok and adjoining provinces, Phuket, as well as four southernmost provinces for more than one day and has reached his or her home or hotel in Chiang Rai, the person must report to the disease control officer in the area of residence. The person must strictly comply with the 14-day home quarantine and remaining confined unless there is a valid reason not to do so. Violations will be handled according to the law.
If the person comes from Bangkok but does not have a domicile history as described above or travel to Bangkok only on the day of travel, the rule of self- quarantine must be observed. That means the person is not required to report to the disease control officer in the area of residence. But the person must observe any Covid-19 symptoms for 14 days and if there was fever or abnormal symptoms under the criteria for disease investigation, go see the doctor at nearest hospital.
Travellers from Phuket province must report at the Wiang In Riverside Resort Hotel and are subjected to 14-day local quarantine. There have been no requisites and restrictions related to COVID-19 travel imposed on domestic passengers and airport operations by other provinces where AOT airports operate. The services of Phuket International Airport remain suspended until May 15, 2020 at 23.59 hours on the order of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand No. 103/2563.
